We are looking for an enthusiastic technology lead with the drive to realize innovative technical solutions to join our team.
As an Engineering Lead at Bizzy, you will play a pivotal role in driving the technical excellence and growth of our engineering team. Youâll oversee a group of talented developers, ensuring they thrive while delivering high-quality solutions aligned with our business objectives. This is an opportunity to lead, mentor, and contribute to a culture of collaboration, innovation, and scalability.
This role reports to the Head of Product & Engineering and is located in Ghent, with flexibility for working from home 2 days per week.
Your responsibilities will include:
Technical Leadership
Together with the Head of P&E, drive the technical strategy and ensure alignment with business goals.
Lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable and reliable software solutions. #LeadTheWay
Define our technical architecture with peers in order to maximise Bizzyâ potential moving forward.
Set up code and deployment standards so we can guarantee the quality of delivery. Conduct regular code reviews to maintain these high-quality standards.
People Leadership
Manage, mentor, and develop a team of engineers to achieve their full potential.
Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and continuous improvement. #UnitedByGrowth
Support the professional growth of team members through coaching and career development. #CandidCandor
Team & Process Management
Lead retrospectives and daily standups to ensure efficient team operations and improvements.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and customer success, to deliver impactful solutions. #UnitedByGrowth
Monitor team performance and optimize processes for maximum productivity and quality. Decrease lead time, improve value delivered and ship working software.
Innovation & Scaling
Proactively identify and address technical and operational challenges.
Champion best practices in agile software development, CI/CD, and DevOps.
Ensure the architecture and infrastructure can scale with the companyâs growth.
Job requirements
To excel in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and qualities:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in technical leadership, with a track record of minimum 6 years in various engineering positions.
Passion for Technology: Vision and strategic thinking to achieve technological goals. You've been there. You've written every piece of code possible and you know your way around our stack (Typescript, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, Databricks & Python). You are a technical leader and you can guide a team of motivated engineers in best practices. You've set up cloud scaling (Google Cloud), E2E testing and top-level code review practices in the past.
Passion for people: You enjoying interactions with your team and uplifting them to their full potential. You have the ability to coach peers and help them to mature.
Entrepreneurial and Results-Driven Mindset: You have an entrepreneurial spirit and are driven to achieve results. Your keen attention to detail will be crucial in ensuring the delivery of a high-quality product and driving our team to excel. You align the goals of your teams towards the company goals.
Strong strategic thinking, analytical skills, and business acumen, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans.
Social and Communicative: Strong communication and leadership skills. You have a proven track record of working with a product department in an agile framework. You know how to balance technical debt vs. features.
Flexible mindset: You thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy the typical start-up challenges. Change happens and things move fast. If you know, you know.
Fluency in English: You are fluent in both English, both spoken and written. Proficiency in Dutch is a nice to have.
