That’s why we’re looking for a Head of Engineering who doesn’t just draw boxes and arrows, but dives in, builds alongside the team, and gets real energy from solving hard problems. Someone who’s ready to roll up their sleeves, sharpen the architecture, and take Bizzy to the next level together with a strong, ambitious engineering team. Someone who understands the importance of AI as a force multiplier for engineering velocity and continuously seeks new opportunities as the technology evolves.

You’ll be part of the leadership team, working closely with Product, Sales and the rest of the company > meaning: direct impact, real ownership, no ivory tower.

📍 Based in Ghent, with flexibility to work from home 2 days a week.

🔥 What you’ll be doing

  • Own the Engineering Vision - You define where we’re going technically, and you make it happen. From architecture to execution, you lead the way. #LeadTheWay

  • Be Hands-On Where It Matters - You’re not afraid to dive into code, reviews, technical discussions or complex challenges. You build with the team, not next to it.

  • Lead & Grow a Strong Engineering Team - Coach, mentor and challenge a group of driven engineers. You create clarity, trust and high standards; and help people grow fast. #UnitedByGrowth

  • Scale the Platform - Help Bizzy handle more data, more customers and more complexity, without sacrificing performance, reliability or developer happiness.

  • Bridge Product, Tech & Business - Work closely with Product and leadership to turn business goals into smart technical decisions. Pragmatic when needed, bold when it counts.

  • Improve How We Work - This is a scale-up. Nothing is “set in stone”. You continuously refine processes, ways of working and technical foundations.

Job requirements

💡 What makes you a great fit

  • Tech-savvy leader – 8+ years in engineering (incl data engineering & AI), with at least 2 years in a leadership role. You’ve mastered our stack (TypeScript, Next.js, Node.js, GraphQL, Databricks, Spark & Python) and have hands-on cloud scaling experience (Google Cloud).

  • Innovative by nature – You don’t just improve what exists, you rethink it. You love experimenting, challenging assumptions and finding smarter ways to build products. “Good enough” isn’t your thing.

  • AI-minded & future-focused – You actively explore how AI can be embedded into products, workflows and engineering practices. You know when to experiment, when to ship, and when to scale.

  • People-first mindset – You genuinely enjoy coaching and helping engineers grow, creating an environment where everyone thrives #CandidCandor

  • Business-driven thinker – You align technical decisions with company goals, balancing innovation with efficiency. You have the ability to balance long-term architecture with short-term impact

  • Startup-ready – Fast-paced environments excite you. You embrace change, tackle challenges head-on, and know how to prioritize what truly matters. You’re a fan of clear communication, strong ownership and a bias for action.

  • Fluent in English – Dutch is a bonus, but not a must.
